There are times when I'll "stalk" people, checking to see where they've gone to eat, and it's so common for people to post pictures of food and interesting things that there's never really a lack of places to discover. Not quite so recently, I noticed more than 3 people who weren't related in any way go to Lantern by Wagaya. Naturally intrigued, I decided to check it out.

It was pretty much like any other Japanese restaurants. It's a branch of Wagaya, but it reminded me of Mizuya and those other restaurants where you can order off a touch screen in a booth.

Salmon nigiri was good, no complaints there... I don't think I've had bad salmon nigiri before... actually, wait, I'm sure I had, but it's probably pushed to the deep abyss of my memory somewhere because bad sashimi can go particularly wrong.

Cold weather called for a pot of nabe! I have YET to try the soy milk base nabe.... =(
From 06.12 |
Nabe base is sweet soy sauce, which is quite unique to nabe because usual Asian hot pots are usually salty rather than sweet.

Not called Lantern by Wagaya for nothing~ interior was decorated with lanterns, which is really nice.

Entrance is supposedly shaped to look like a giant lantern. Doesn't look that great in a photo, but it did look like a modern Japanese restaurant. Very much like Mizuya.
And while I did say I was done with Vivid after those three photoblog entries, I'm not entirely done yet.

Remember this? I didn't understand it when I first visited it, but when I came back, it's actually pretty cute!

Cantina Truck no. 2!! :D So glad to see this one, because my brother told me about it before. It has the legendary pulled pork bun!

This was taken quickly with my still unnamed phone camera, so excuse the unappetizing appearance, but it was actually quite good. Poor cantina truck though, it was so flooded with hungry cold people watching Vivid that the queue was quite long and the wait for food extremely long. Waited about 20 minutes plus for this one bun to be made, and people were complaining when we received it, saying "I hope they waited a long time for that, because we've been standing here for xx amount of time and still haven't gotten ours". Tough~! I get my pulled pork with mustard cabbage and hot chilli sauce before you! :D
Headed back towards Circ Quay station, saw this:

=( Why so colourful! It looked so much better as one uniform colour. Anyway, this is truly the end of Vivid for 2012~ Cafe next on the list I think?
